I am loving the creative wedding photography that’s coming out of the States at the moment – just have a nose around any of the American weddings blogs and you’ll see some really original and imaginative shots. I’ve particularly got my eye on the use of photo accessories, which seem to help couples relax and have fun, and provide some great informal shots that really reflect their personalities and wedding style. Check out some of my favourites…

Moustaches on sticks are a simple and inexpensive way of adding some fun to your group photos…

I totally love this photo from a vintage-themed wedding, where the bride and groom have just each picked up a candelabra off the tables to create a beautifully romantic shot…

Picture frames are really fun for guests to use at a wedding. Give one of your bridesmaids a digital camera and get them to take lots of photos of your guests during the drinks reception whilst you’re having some couple shots taken – not only is this fun for guests but you’ll get some great photos as well!

Balloons, balloons, balloons! As you can probably tell, oversized balloons are my absolute favourite photo accessories – simple, inexpensive and yet so much fun!

Wedding signs are not only a great addition to a photo, but these shots can easily be used to create bespoke thank-you cards. Many guests don’t get to see the final wedding album, so these are a great way of providing them with a photo of the happy couple…

  1. I’ve always taken a photostudio along for the reception in the evening, where there are always some mad folks doing mad things – but this has inspired me – I’m off shopping for the silly box today!!
