There’s nothing we love more here at Helen Carter Weddings than drooling over fabulous cake designs on the web (actually, that’s a lie, there’s nothing we love more than eating cake, but browsing comes a close second!). Therefore, we were delighted to come across US cake pop designer Lauren Caveness whose company Sweet Lauren Cakes produces some of the most stunning displays we have seen for a while.

Red and Aqua Mad About...Cake Pop Displays

Cake pops are a relatively new phenomenon here in the UK and have started to be used at weddings as quirky and tasty favours. Lauren takes this one step further by substituting the wedding cake for a bespoke cake pop display, which can be tiered to mirror the traditional cake.

  • Sarah’s Thoughts – Alternative Wedding Cakes

Posted in A Bride's Perspective, Cakes

Having more than one event makes it possible (a requirement (!)) to have more than one cake. In an earlier post I commented how, despite our tiny guest list for our ceremony, we wanted a cake with presence so that it didn’t get lost in the photos. This led us to adding a third, fake tier so that we could get the look without the calories.

Odd that he is, but my husband doesn’t care much for cake – particularly fruit cake or anything with marzipan or icing. Also, as we had already done the traditional fruit cake for the ceremony, our thoughts turned to alternatives for the Summer Fete reception in June.

I’m currently going through a bit of a phase of being totally obsessed with wedding cakes, but when I stumbled across this stunning design earlier this week on Kiss The Groom it really did have me totally entranced.

I have to confess to being a self-proclaimed chocoholic, so I was super-excited when I discovered the absolutely amazing chocolate wedding cakes at Choccywoccydoodah. They’re based in Brighton, but if you don’t fancy a trip to the seaside you can also arrange a consultation at the gourmet chocolate boutique ‘La Anabela’ in London’s Covent Garden.
