We’re now well and truly back into work mode, and our first week of 2012 has been as busy as ever, with new enquiries, ongoing arrangements for upcoming weddings and some exciting plans that we’re going to be unveiling very soon.

Over the last week we’ve also been reflecting on the last 12 months. 2011 was the busiest and most successful year to date for Helen Carter Weddings, so we thought we’d share some of our highlights with you.

    Beautiful Weddings
We’ve had the pleasure of working with some wonderful couples over the last 12 months, and have had the privilege of designing and organising some truly beautiful and very unique wedding celebrations. From contemporary city venues to historic halls, and country hotels to classic marquees, 2011 saw a real mix of wedding styles and certainly worked our creative brains!

  • Guest Blog Post – Help With Your Wedding Planning

Posted in HCW News, Planning Advice, Uncategorized, Wedding Press

We were delighted to be invited by Nikki of Knots and Kisses to write a blog post for her new look website. In the post we provided brides (and grooms) -to-be with some basic wedding planning tips to help them conquer the months of planning ahead of them. By kicking off their planning process by allocating a realistic budget for each area of the celebrations and by setting easily achievable targets we show how planning your wedding can be an enjoyable experience rather than a nightmare.

Thanks again to Nikki for giving us the opportunity to share her new site, and we look forward to catching up with the other guest blogs she has lined up for future weeks.

  • A Special Introduction…

    Thursday, July 14th, 2011

Posted in A Bride's Perspective, HCW News

I have some exciting news to share with you today – we have a new addition to the Helen Carter Weddings family! My little wedding planning empire is expanding, and I’m very pleased and proud to introduce you to my new assistant, Sarah Nendick.

Sarah in Purple A Special Introduction...

Sarah is actually a recent bride of mine, and I’m absolutely thrilled to now have her as part of my team. I feel I should point out that I don’t make a habit of hiring my clients (!), but over the last 18 months Sarah and I have formed a rather special bond, and as an old-married I’m really looking forward to having a bride’s perspective and insight on various aspects of wedding planning.

Over the coming weeks Sarah is going to be posting regularly on the blog, and will be sharing some of her wedding finds, DIY projects and creative ideas. Today, however, I’ve asked Sarah a few questions by means of an introduction, so you can find out a bit more about her, her wedding and her plans for being a part of the HCW team. Over to you Sarah!

  • A Nice Cup of Tea…

    Tuesday, July 5th, 2011

    Posted in HCW News, Venues

Anyone that knows me will tell you one of my favourite pastimes is, in the words of Nicey and Wifey, to have a “nice cup of tea and a sit down”! This is how I start every working day after taking Mr HCW to the train station and walking the dog, how I accompany my spreadsheet and list making, and how I wind down at the end of the day, usually snuggled up in bed with a cookie or two on the side. If you add in clotted cream scones alongside you’ve pretty much got my idea of heaven!

So after much diary checking and at least three re-schedules, I was very happy last week to finally be making my way into London for afternoon tea with my very good friend and fellow wedding planner Andri, for an afternoon of wedding chat, gossip, brainstorming and plenty of giggling – bliss!

With the summer almost upon us, wedding planners around the country are gearing up for a busy wedding season, and for me this time of year is all about finalising details and creating schedules, lists and spreadsheets. However, we still need a bit of light relief from time to time from all this logistical planning, so a couple of weeks ago around 15 of us planners got together to combine work with pleasure for a fun evening of hat making with the lovely Katherine Elizabeth.

I’m truly delighted to be involved in a very special bridal event taking place in London this weekend. After weeks of dedicated planning and organisation by members of the UK Alliance of Wedding Planners (UKAWP), The Wedding Sanctuary is being held this Sunday, 20th March, at Somerset House.

  • Welcome To America!

    Posted in HCW News

I’ve been a bit quiet on the blog for the last week or so, but there is a good reason – I’m in America! If any of you follow me on Twitter, you’ll probably already know that I’ve been looking forward to this trip for the last couple of weeks, and my excitement hasn’t subsided now that I’m actually here.

I’ve never been to the States before, so when Mr HCW came home one night and said he’d be working in Chicago for a week and did I want to go (erm, hello?!), I literally jumped at the chance. So after an 8-hour flight from Heathrow on Saturday, here I am slap bang in the middle of downtown Chicago, and I thought I’d share with you some of the things I’ve been up to over the last few days.

  • Time to Catch Up!

It’s been a little while since my last post, so I thought I’d check in to let you know I am still alive and haven’t forgotten you! I can’t believe it’s nearly April already – spring has finally sprung down here in Essex, and I’m thoroughly enjoying the warm sunshine and daffodils, crocuses and snowdrops that have suddenly burst into bloom.

With wedding season fast approaching it’s been super busy over the last few weeks and we’ve been heads down hard at work planning this summer’s weddings. I’m privileged to be working with some wonderful couples and fabulous designs, so I can’t wait to see everything come together on the day. Purple seems to be a particularly popular colour this year, so watch this space for some real-life design boards and more wedding inspiration!

  • Photo Shoot at 58 Princes Gate

    Thursday, February 11th, 2010

    Posted in HCW News, Venues

Just before Christmas I was approached by Elodie, the marketing executive of a new London wedding venue, to assist with an upcoming photo shoot for their wedding brochure and website. 58 Princes Gate is owned and managed by Imperial College London, and is a beautiful Edwardian building that is tucked away in the heart of South Kensington. It already successfully hosts corporate meetings, seminars and private dinners, but this year is looking to open its doors to brides and grooms who are looking for an exclusive and intimate central London venue.
