Wedding favours are something that a lot of couples ask whether they should have or not. I personally think it’s a nice gesture to give your guests a keepsake of the day, but I also know that they can end up being ignored or forgotten about and consequently can feel like a waste of money. This is why I often recommend clients opt for something edible – guests love having something to nibble on after dinner, or they’ll tuck it away to munch on their way home later!
So today I’m delighted to welcome Tola Popoola from Chocolat a Toi. Tola specialises in creating personalised chocolate wedding favours, and is here to share some more information on her services.

1. What prompted you to set up a personalised chocolate company?
It was my brother’s wedding and I was looking for favours to match the colour theme – turquoise and banana yellow. I couldn’t find anything appropriate or affordable! Today, I can create those favours, though 3 years late, in any colour and at affordable prices.
2. What are the different options that you can offer for weddings?
Our personalised chocolate bars come in three different sizes so there are several options for brides. The largest size, the 35g milk chocolate bar, can be used as a name card, menu card, save the date, or individual favour. The 10g milk or 5g dark chocolate bars are ideal scattered on the table or presented in individual boxes as favours.

3. Can you create a completely bespoke design?
We get a real kick from creating completely bespoke designs, and we like to create as many as we can for a single event at no extra charge. For example, we created 3 different designs for our last wedding order of 300 chocolates. All you need to do is tell us your theme or colour scheme, or send us a design that you like.
4. Do you think that wedding favours are less popular than a few years ago as couples try to make the most of their budget?
Wedding favours are actually more popular in this uncertain economic climate as they can serve a dual purpose. For example, they can double as a favour and name card.

5. What would be your advice for couples that want to provide their guests with a unique and personal keepsake from the day?
I would advise them to first pick a style or theme that fully compliments their day, and then ask us to translate this into a personalised favour design. Guests will treasure unique and personal favours, such as those with photos, for years – at least the wrapper if not the chocolate! The wrappers in particular are excellent as keepsakes in scrap books or kept in boxes with other wedding memorabilia.
